The Feathered Steed Quail Mug

A proper mug of morning tea calls for sturdy clay, a generous rim, and a little good cheer before the rest of the house wakes up. I threw this rounded belly on the potter's wheel using stoneware, pulling a wide handle that leaves plenty of room for sleepy fingers to curl around. Around the cream body, I painted our cheerful valley quails by hand, giving each bird a jaunty curved topknot, a warm chestnut wing, and delicate brushstrokes across the breast. A bright wash of turquoise covers the inside and spills softly over the lip, bringing the fresh colour of a woodland creek right up to your morning brew.

Because I throw, paint, and fire each piece to order in our Okanagan studio, please allow two to three weeks for your mug to make its way through the kiln. When your parcel is ready to travel, we pack it to our Careful-Boxing standard, tucking the mug snugly into its protective inner wrap before floating it safely inside a larger, sustainable outer carton. It arrives sound, whole, and ready to brighten your everyday breakfast table.
